The first of two all-church
meetings took place last night with a great turnout!
Steve Buchanan presented an overall view of the search
process with two of the search team members sharing from
their heart. Pastor Brian shared his heart as
well. Click on the link to read more detail on

The Pastoral Search Team has
officially turned over their findings to the Board of
Elders after a lengthy process. It is now the job
of the board to determine the top candidate based on the
information compiled by the Pastoral Search Team.
The board will conduct a series of steps before
presenting the one candidate to the congregation for a
vote. Thanks to the Pastoral Search Team for their
faithful service over these many months. Please
keep the Elder Board in your prayers as they continue to
look to God for direction. |

The team continues to press on in
our senior pastor search process. As of this date,
we have had "face to face" meetings with three of our
applicants. The initial meetings have lasted
around two to three hours. We now have completed
an in-depth second interview with one applicant and we
are in the process of scheduling interviews with the
other two applicants. These three applicants have
made it the furthest in our process so far. There
are other strong applicants at earlier stages in the
process who could potentially reach the interview stage
soon. We have had the opportunity to brief our
elder board as to our progress and the board has been
very supportive of our team's efforts. Please keep
our team in your prayers as we try to keep on top of
things. God continues to bless the team beyond
words. |

We have currently received over 300
resumes. The team is continuing to meet weekly and has
made tremendous progress in the last month. As you know
we previously narrowed our 300 down to 50 and that has
now been narrowed to around 10. We are currently
focusing on our efforts on 2 of those 10. We have met
informally with one and are setting up a meeting with
the other. We are very excited to have a great group of
potential candidates. Please pray that as we narrow the
search, God would guide our meetings with the candidates
and He would make it obvious who the search team should
present to the elder board. |

We continue to meet each week as we
prayerfully continue the process of narrowing the search
for our new pastor. To date we have received over
200 applications which we have narrowed down to around
50. We are now reviewing video sermons and
questionnaires from each of the remaining candidates as
we attempt, with God's guidance, to narrow the list
further. We are all very excited to see who God
will select to lead this church in the upcoming years.

We are a little over two months
into our search for our next Lead Pastor here at MHC.
While we are not yet at a position to share details, we
can update you with a few statistics. Thus far we
have had a little over 200 resumes submitted to us.
These resumes have come from candidates literally all
across the globe - from far away places such as
Scotland, Guam and Germany, to many states all over the
U.S. and even Orange County.
|
| |
|
Of the resumes received, we have
been able to rule out approximately 60. Once we
have sorted through all the resumes, we will begin
sending out a questionnaire packet to those individuals
that we have chosen to take to the next phase of the
application process.
|
| |
|
Even as we begin to send out round
one questionnaires, we will no doubt still receive
resumes that will need to be screened and a
determination made, as to their "fit" for MHC. It
feels like we are swimming upstream at times and the
current is strong, but we are continuing to push and
make headway.
|
| |
|
As you pray for the search team,
please pray specifically that we would know God's will
for us and be willing to move at the pace He sets. |

Our search team has been meeting
diligently every Thursday since August 20 and we are
excited to "officially" launch the search for our next
Senior Pastor. Below is a brief synopsis of the
steps the search team and the elders will be taking in
securing our next pastor. The process was broken
down into 7 categories:
|
| |
|
1. Organize a search team
2. Create a church and pastor profile
3. Gather applicants
4. Select candidates
5. Host candidate weekends
6. Extend a job offer
7. Welcome a new Senior Pastor
|
| |
|
The first two steps are now
complete and we are now ready for step #3. During
the next couple of months, the search team will be
collecting a "basket" of possible candidates that fit
our profile and will begin reviewing resumes. For
more information on steps #4-7, check out our
Senior Pastor Search
page. Be sure to make use of the
FAQ's link that was
created specifically for our church family and is
designed to help answer your questions regarding this
process. |
